Our community

Eagleby State School values and celebrates the following community events:
 
NAIDOC WEEK: NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Indigenous Australians. We celebrate this day through a special day of indigenous activities.


LITERACY WEEK: This week highlights the importance of literacy skills for all children with the opportunity to get involved in a range of literacy activities.
 
The week aims to recognise the achievements of students and the work of teachers, parents and members of the community who support our students to develop stronger literacy skills.
 
SPELLING BEE: The Eagleby State School Annual Spelling Bee is held in Term 3.
 
 
NUMERACY WEEK: This week highlights the importance of numeracy skills for all children with the opportunity to get involved in a range of numeracy activities.
The week aims to recognise the achievements of students and the work of teachers, parents and members of the community who support our students to develop stronger numeracy skills.
TIMESTABLES CHALLENGE: Eagleby State School Runs a Timestables Challenge across the year for Years 3-6, with the Champions Challenge held in Term 4.
SCIENCE WEEK: Australia’s annual celebration of science with the aim of increasing the importance science plays in our everyday lives as well as fostering a love of scientific inquiry.

 
EARLY YEARS' DAY: This is a celebration of young people and the junior school. Students celebrate by participating in a number of hands-on, fun filled activities and games.
WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY: This is an annual, national event which encourages parents, carers and primary school students to walk and commute safely to school. It is a community event seeking to promote road safety, health, public transport and the environment.
 
COMMUNITY CELEBRATION DAYS
At Eagleby State School, we also take the time to recognise the valuable contrubutions from all the members in our School community by celebrating the following days:
  • World Teachers' Day
  • P & C Day
  • Office Staff, School Officers, Cleaners and School Crossing Officer's Day
  • Teacher Aides' Day
  • Grandparents' Day
  • Volunteer's Morning Tea
